Overview

Approved library hazards are added to the RAMS as fixed, read-only assessments. Their scenario, people at risk, controls and risk values cannot be edited in the document. When the approved content does not fit the job, use Add custom hazard to enter your own assessment.

• Approved library hazards. Browse, inspect and select the hazards that apply. The approved assessment content is copied unchanged into the document.
• Custom hazard assessments. For a custom hazard, enter the scenario, potential harm, people at risk, controls, responsible person and initial and residual risk ratings.
• Selected hazard order. Reorder the selected hazards in the preview. Their order is retained in the RAMS and PDF.

How it works

1. Browse the hazard library

   Search for hazards or browse by category. Open a hazard description to check whether it applies to the work.

2. Select approved hazards that fit the job

   Select the relevant approved hazards. Their assessment content remains read-only; selecting a hazard does not open an editor for its controls or risk values.

3. Add a custom hazard when needed

   Use Add custom hazard if the approved library wording does not represent the job. Choose a category and enter a name for your custom hazard.

4. Complete the custom assessment

   For custom hazards only, enter the scenario, potential harm, people at risk, controls, responsible person and initial and residual risk ratings. Save the completed hazard or keep an incomplete draft.

5. Review the selected hazards

   Check that the selected assessments apply to the work, remove unsuitable selections and arrange the hazards in the required order. Check any incomplete custom hazards before finishing.

Library hazards and controls are starting points. Selection is not evidence that the content is suitable for the current site or task.
